Ontario Staycation Tax Credit 2022

Although we may not be able to board a plane and travel around the world during COVID-19, some travellers have shifted their vacation to a staycation in a hotel.

Between January 1 and December 31, 2022, Ontario residents can claim 20% of their eligible 2022 accommodation expenses when filing their personal Income Tax and Benefit Return for 2022.

Who can claim the credit?

• Ontario Resident

• Only one individual per family

What are eligible expenses?

Accommodation expenses for a leisure stay of less than a month in Ontario at:

• Hotel

• Motel

• Resort

• Lodge

• Bed-and-breakfast establishment

• Cottage

• Campground
